Request

Over the years I’ve pondered the actions of those who are inquired by others for items during a time of need. As I rode the train from class I had to chuckle at a long since incident.

During a hospitalization of a long time consociate asked for particular emollient cream for the chafing of their body. Since I use this same product and keep ample supply at home, which is in walking distance, I said I would bring them a bottle. Then the person’s relative stated, “I will get it.” At this point I let it alone.

While the hospitalized person was in surgery I tagged along for lunch and as we returned to the hospital the relative stopped at a store on the way back to fulfill the patient’s request. Upon our return to the hospital we had to wait several hours past the initial expected time frame of the completed operation.

Once the patient was alert and returned to their room, the relative made a comment “I didn’t know that it was soooo expensive”, as they gave the item to the patient/parent. I was really floored at that moment when the person made this statement but brushed it off.

As I rode the train this fall day, some four-year removed from the incident, I had a sense of wonderment and chuckled. The wonder is, my thought about when someone requests something particularly when it during a time when they are incapacitated; keep negative comments to one’s self. Secondly, don’t brush off open invitations and then complain when the request is outside what you think ‘cost too much’. Lastly, cost too much comes from the person who wear’s the red bottomed designer shoes….plz! Now that is where I get my chuckle…hummmm…LOL…no ROFL…but REALLY I’m sad kind of blue at the memory. Oh, but the surgery was a success…for this I am pleased!

Forgotten

“Also this I came to see as wisdom under the sun, and it impressed me. There was a small city with few men in it and a great king came to it, surrounded it and constructed large siegeworks against it. But there was found in it a poor wise man and he delivered the city by his wisdom. Yet no one remembered that poor man. So I said, “Wisdom is better than strength.” But the wisdom of the poor man is despised and his words are not heeded. The words of the wise heard in quietness are better than the shouting of a ruler among fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.” Ecclesiastes 9:13-18 NASB

I forgot, yes the action is forgiven. However, over the years I have seen it abused. I’ve seen it as I shall say the fallback of uncaringness. Yes I said it!

Over the years I’ve witness the overlooking in nonchalant fashion of major accomplishment or supposed honoring that is dishonoring. Even the ask for advise of many but they follow selfish motivations to their detriment. These actions and motivations are seen for eternity judgment. I can stand tall knowing Whose and Who I am.

UNCHAINED

I have been called bitchy; I am no man’s bitch. I have been called mean and oh yeah intimidating. These perceptions are because what some truly see is something that they CANNOT shake…You Lord.

This is their problem not mine. I know when I’m being used and abused and I am not having it. For if they did not have their own self-serving agenda they would see God’s love shining brightly within me. But they choose to look through their own venal motived eyes. These eyes are shrouded and hardened in a pit of despair that they’ve allowed. I love them, I pray for them.  My God never said I should allow them to take over my spirit or beat me down.

He has placed a mind-boggling strength that keeps me moving forward…unchained to their human egoism. And like comedian and “THE TALK” host said, “bruised but not broken.” Keeping it moving in God’s love with His grace. “Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed quickly, therefore the hearts of the sons of men among them are given fully to do evil.” Ecclesiastes 8:11 NASB

Jealousy a form of self-loathing?

This thought has boggled my mind but not my being. When those who hate for kindness done to or for them, is it jealousy, is it self-refection of lacking good trait. No matter the inward turmoil it is not your turmoil but that of the self-loather lashing out for their own inadequacies. They know you see them as they are. They are bare before you, their innermost thoughts exposed.

Yes, You see them for who they are, and they do not like the fact that even though they have attempted to disguise their inadequacies you see them for who they REALLY are. “He who hates disguises it with his lips, But he lays up deceit in his heart. When he speaks graciously, do not believe him,
For there are seven abominations in his heart. Though his hatred covers itself with guile, His wickedness will be revealed before the assembly. He who digs a pit will fall into it, And he who rolls a stone, it will come back on him. A lying tongue hates those it crushes, And a flattering mouth works ruin.” Proverbs 26:24-28 NASB

Who created it?

Yesterday I was thinking about how You Father had created everything. But there is one thing that You did not create and that is sin. This thing has a distinguishing of being created by Satan and used by man. Some how I think it goes to an issue of jealousy or self-pride. It seems that they wanted more that You had allowed or that “thing” that had been forbidden. You know it is like the little kid or teenager who is rebellious or curious and thinks, “that ole person doesn’t know what they are talking about.”

You are our parent and are looking out for us just the same as our earthly guardians are entrusted with our care. You and they are looking out for us for own benefit and wellbeing. Lord I thank you and I am so grateful for the insight that You have given me. Oh and yes, I will pass it on. Here folks, you have it, now it is your turn to pass it on, meditate on it or just get a conversation started. LET’s GO!

Hospitality

Over the past few weeks I have been thinking of hospitality. What does it really mean? Well, according to Merriam Webster:

os·pi·tal·i·ty noun \ˌhäs-pə-ˈta-lə-tē\
: generous and friendly treatment of visitors and guests : hospitable treatment
: the activity of providing food, drinks, etc. for people who are the guests or customers of an organization (Retrieved - 9/1/14 - http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hospitality )

As I looked at these two definitions I would think that the Christian mission is to encompass both of these defined attributes; treatment of visitor/guest and what we often call fellowship of breaking bread (providing food/drink) When offering hospitality we are inviting in, accepting, welcoming guest & members. We make them fill desired and that their presence is important. For when we openly welcome these brothers, sisters, guest we are inviting God into our fold. God as Guest Another theme possibly provided an incentive for hospitality: God might be the guest. God or the angel of the Lord at times, unexpectedly appeared in the person of the stranger (Genesis 18:1, Genesis 18:10; 19:1; Judges 6:11-24; 13:2-23).]

I continued to look at several articles on Christian hospitality and I was surprised to find writing about those who exclude others.  My thoughts reflected not just on the hospitality as an action but the interaction within the ministry. Sometimes people get so hug up on “THEIR ministry” Well, I am here to say it is not theirs it is “GOD”S ministry.” [Jesus frequently comes to the defense of those whom society looks down upon, and frequently warns and chastises those who have achieved societal respectability. Jesus tells his hosts to proactively include the excluded in the blessing of hospitality.  http://faithepchurch.org/files/Documents/Discipleship%20Resources/Hospitality.pdf, pg. 14 - Retrieved – September 1, 2014.

I have pondered over this thought about hospitality…hummm… Yes we invite, we share, is it lip service. Are we true? Are motives pure? Are we all encompassing/including? It is not me or I but we, better yet is it about God?

Lord, I just want to be found following what you have instructed. Sharing what you have given me vision, using my gifts of edification and others and remaining prayerful that those who motives are internal become external.
